I’m Susan; a Brisbane-based photographer, wife to Joel, and mum to two beautiful humans, Cooper and Charlotte. Motherhood is at the heart of everything I do, both personally and creatively, and it’s what deeply informs the way I photograph families, women, and new life.
Susan Stafford Photography began shortly after my son was born in 2016, when I realised just how fleeting and powerful those early days truly are. What started as a quiet curiosity quickly became a calling: to document love, connection, and the everyday magic that so often passes too quickly.
My style is best described as artful, emotive lifestyle photography. I focus on natural connection, gentle movement, and honest moments; the way your child reaches for your hand, the way you hold your baby close, the laughter, the calm, the in-between. I photograph at sunrise or sunset whenever possible, when the light is soft and golden, creating images that feel warm, timeless, and deeply personal.
I understand that stepping in front of the camera can feel vulnerable. My approach is relaxed and intuitive, allowing space for you to simply be, with gentle guidance where needed. Connection always comes first; the rest unfolds naturally.
Every session is about storytelling. Not perfection. Not posing.
